Description "Lullaby for Jesus", for string quartet, was composed in 2010 at the request of Patricia Adkins Chiti, President of Donne in Musica.
The work makes use of two songs associated with Christmas. The first is a medieval lullaby sung by the nuns of Chester, England, from c. 1425, entitled "Qui creavit coelum, lully, lully, lu". The text and the music are from the Processional of the nunnery of St. Mary, Chester.
The second is a traditional English carol, "How far is't to Bethlehem?", often sung by children. It's based on an English folk-tune known as 'Stowey'.

The duration of the piece is c. 6 minutes.
